From 8 to 10 July, IACA took part in the United Nations Economic and Social Council’s (ECOSOC) high-level panel on accountability, transparency and sustainable development. The panel’s goal was to draw attention to the relationship between corruption and development and to promote an exchange of views on innovative approaches and partnerships in combatting corruption.
The third session of IACA’s Provisional Commission took place on 21 June in the Vienna International Centre. It witnessed the participation of a large number of delegates, representing all corners of the globe, and was chaired by Ambassador Eugenio M. Curia of the Latin America and Caribbean Group (GRULAC).
IACA received a delegation led by the former German Federal Minister of Finance, Mr. Theodor Waigel, on 14 June. In January of 2009, Mr. Waigel was appointed as compliance monitor by the Siemens AG. He has been the first non-American to ever hold this position. In his function, Mr. Waigel delivers regular reports concerning the company’s compliance measures.
