Close collaboration within the international community is essential to IACA’s mission and the driving force behind the efforts to expand our network. With this in mind, the Academy organized and actively participated in several regional and international events in the field of anti-corruption. Furthermore, the Dean held several high-profile meetings to forge new alliances in the fight against corruption.

In 2022, the Academy attended over thirty (30) conferences, among them were OLACEFS Annual Board Meeting, the 31st Session of the UN Commission of Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ); the 91^st Plenary Meeting of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO), High-Level Conference on Good Governance & Fight Against Corruption hosted by the IMF and African Union; Collective Action Conference hosted by the Basel Institute for Good Governance; the first BRICS Anti-Corruption Ministerial Meeting on “Strengthening Cooperation against Transnational Corruption”; the Anti-Corruption Forum on International Development Cooperation organized by the International Development Cooperation Agency and the Ministry of Commerce of China; OECD Global Forum on Building Trust & Democracy; and the High-Level Roundtable on Anti-Corruption hosted by Canada, Ecuador, and the Netherlands.

Aiming to mainstream the fight against corruption in the international agenda, IACA attended the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly and UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). At the latter, the Academy contributed to the outcome documents on:

(1)  Progress, experiences, lessons learned, challenges, and implications and policy recommendations of the COVID-19 pandemic for the implementation of SDG 2030 Agenda and in particular SDGs 4, 5, 14, 15, and 17;

(2)  Policy recommendations on SDGs 4, 5, 14, 15, and 17 in the context of COVID-19 and corruption as well as key messages for suggested inclusion into the Ministerial Declaration of the 2022 HLPF. 

The Academy hosted and supported the organization of several events that draw on a wide audience. Focusing on facilitating anti-corruption education in a broad range of disciplines and promoting the role of IACA in the global fight against corruption, we arranged:  

• Side-event during the 65th regular session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs entitled “Prevention of Drug Trafficking through Anti-Corruption Measures in the Customs Service.”;
• Side-event at the 11th session of the Conference of State Parties of the UN Convention Against Organized Crime (UNTOC) entitled “New Ways of Measuring Organized Crime and Corruption.”;
• Side-event during the 31st session of the UN Commission of Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) entitled "Power of the Pen: Investigative Journalism and Anti-Corruption”;
• Virtual Panel Discussion on Corruption and Environmental Crimes, co-sponsored by the Wildlife Justice Commission;
• Virtual Panel Discussion on Whistleblower Protection in Action;
• Symposium on the Supranational Responses to Corruption, organized by the World Bank Office of Suspension and Debarment (OSD), the American Society of International Law (ASIL), and the Organization for Economic Cooperation Development's (OECD) Anti-Corruption Division, with the support of IACA, the World Economic Forum and the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hosted by the OPEC Fund for International Development

Cooperation and political dialogue were fostered through missions and visits by the Dean, who  met with counterparts in a wide range of organizations at their headquarters, including Secretary General of the League of Arab States, H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit; Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), H.E. Dr. Nayef Falah M. Al-Hajraf; Secretary General of Interpol, Mr. Jurgen Stock; and Former Secretary General of United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, who was the guest of honour at IACA’s Inaugural Conference in 2010.
