On 25 March, Afghanistan acceded to the Agreement for the Establishment of IACA as an International Organization. On this occasion, H.E. Ayoob M. Erfani, the Ambassador of Afghanistan to Austria and the International Organizations in Vienna visited IACA to present his credentials.
In the course of the official visit, Ambassador Erfani and IACA’s Dean, Martin Kreutner, discussed the Academy’s programmes, role as a technical assistance provider, and potential training areas for Afghani officials.
“In a post conflict society as Afghanistan, the fight against corruption is an utmost priority as it destroys the trust between people and the administration”, Ambassador Erfani stated. “IACA would have a great potential to assist Afghan institutions in their capacity building process”, he added. Mr. Kreutner emphasized the need for long-term solutions in the fight against corruption, noting that on-site trainings could be an appropriate tool for contributing to a sustainable change process.
Afghanistan is the 62nd Member and 39th Party to join the organization.
