IACA received a delegation led by the former German Federal Minister of Finance, Mr. Theodor Waigel, on 14 June. In January of 2009, Mr. Waigel was appointed as compliance monitor by the Siemens AG. He has been the first non-American to ever hold this position. In his function, Mr. Waigel delivers regular reports concerning the company’s compliance measures.
During his visit to IACA, he was accompanied by Mr. Benno Schwarz from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP Munich and three representatives from Siemens Austria. While being shown around Palais Wittgenstein-Kaunitz, IACA’s campus, Mr. Waigel emphasized the importance of IACA as an educational institution and showed particular interest in IACA’s Master for Anti-Corruption Studies programme for which he clearly sees a need and demand. IACA’s Chairman and Executive Secretary, Mr. Martin Kreutner, stressed the inter-disciplinary nature of this innovative academic programme and recalled that, in general, it would be open for participants from all sectors of society.
