FRY MacedoniaOn 11 November IACA representatives paid an official visit to Liechtenstein, one of the Academy´s Founding Members. During a working meeting with Aurelia Frick, the Principality´s Minister of Justice, the Academy´s present and future activities were discussed and possibilities for tailor-made trainings for prosecutors elaborated on.

Minister Frick, furthermore, emphasized that Liechtenstein has strengthened its commitment to the fight against corruption in the last few years and has joined several international agreements to this end. Liechtenstein signed the Agreement for the Establishment of IACA as an International Organization during the Academy´s Inaugural Conference on 2 September 2010, ratifying it a year later on 19 September 2011.


The same day IACA welcomed a representatives from the Swiss Federal Office of Justice, including Direcor Michael Leupold. The two sides had the opportunity to learn more about each other´s endeavors and spheres of competence and also discussed prospects for future cooperation. The Federal Office of Justice is one of four agencies of the Federal Department of Justice and Police in Switzerland. It is responsible preparing legislation relating to the main areas of law, supervising government registers, advising the Swiss government in all legislative matters, and forging international cooperation on judicial assistance.


On 9 November, IACA officials met with a delegation from FYR Macedonia´s State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, headed by Zoran Dodevski. Topics of deliberation centered on the IACA´s training initiatives, its recruitment process and international cooperation particularly with regard to trans-border crime. Established in 2002 as an independent body, the Commission is mandated with establishing state programmes for preventing and curbing corruption, providing opinions on draft laws related to anti-corruption and conflict of interest, and initiating the implementation of measures of accountability in the government and corporate business sector. FYR Macedonia is also one of the Academy´s Founding Members.
