European Commission Representative and Chinese Delegation at IACA

Delegations from the European Commission and the People’s Republic of China visited IACA on Thursday for discussions and updates on the Academy’s activities.

Mr. Jörg Wojahn, Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Austria, met Mr. Martin Kreutner, IACA’s Dean and Executive Secretary, to address several issues of mutual interest, in particular the institutions’ roles in contributing to and fostering the rule of law, human rights, and sustainable development.

IACA has consistently emphasized the strong links between anti-corruption and further progress in each of these areas, especially in the context of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Later on Thursday, IACA welcomed a separate delegation led by H.E. Mr. Zhongjun Shi, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China to the International Organizations in Vienna.

The delegation, which also included representatives from China’s Permanent Mission to the International Organizations in Vienna, attended a briefing on current and upcoming developments at IACA. H.E. Mr. Shi and IACA representatives also held talks to explore possibilities for further cooperation between China and the Academy.

China acceded to the Agreement for the Establishment of IACA as an International Organization in September 2014.
