On 8 March, IACA celebrates its 11th anniversary as an international organization. The Academy was initiated in 2011 by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), INTERPOL, the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), the Republic of Austria, and other stakeholders. Since its inception, it has grown to a constituency of 80 Parties, including 76 states and 4 international organizations.
In his video address on this occasion, Mr. Stelzer thanks all our Parties, Signatories, partners, the Board of Governors, the International Senior Advisory Board, the International Academic Advisory Board, lecturers and students, for their support. He also reflects on IACA’s activities in 2021 and shares his thoughts on the Academy’s future role. In particular, he refers to the Academy’s first joint master’s programme with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the imminent launch of its master’s programme in Spanish.
Finally, he refers to the resolve of IACA to significantly increase its involvement in global anti-corruption efforts, including by providing education and training to those who need it most and who can have the greatest impact. He concludes by calling on IACA Parties and other donors to provide the support necessary for the Academy to succeed in these endeavours.
