On 13 June 2022, Mr. Thomas Stelzer, Dean and Executive Secretary of IACA, and H.E. Mr. Edmundo Orellana Mercado, Minister for Transparency and Fight Against Corruption of Honduras, met and discussed about enhancing cooperation in the field of anti-corruption and compliance training and capacity building activities. In particular, they focused on concrete ways to expand the outreach of IACA’s capacity-building programmes and technical assistance activities in Honduras, including the promotion of the IACA’s new academic programme in Spanish - “Máster en Estudios Anticorrupción y Compliance (MACC)”. This is a programme designed to expand practical skills in the prevention, detection and sanctioning of corruption, as well as in the field of compliance and collective action.
Mr. Marcio Sierra President Commissioner of the Banking and Insurance Commission, Ms. Cindy Rodriguez, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs for Cooperation, and Ms. Gina Larissa Reyes, Director of International Treaties and Commitments, accompanied Minister Orellana Mercado during the meeting with IACA.
IACA concluded three Memoranda of Understanding with institutions from Honduras: the National University of Honduras (Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras (2022)), the Superior Court of Audit (2020) and the Supreme Court of Justice of Honduras (2017).
Honduras became an IACA Party on 2 February 2019.
