IACA´s first Regional Alumni Conference was held in Kuala Lumpur from 21 to 25 November 2022. It brought together IACA’s alumni from East, South-East and South Asia. The Regional Alumni Conference – Asia was attended by 35 participants representing 10 countries from the region, namely Bangladesh, South Korea, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, and Philippines.
The conference programme aimed to Connect, Inform, Educate and Inspire the alumni to drive impact against corruption. The interactive agenda of the conference included the following key themes: Collective Action against corruption; ethics and integrity; anti-bribery laws; investigative techniques and approaches; and regional case studies. The conference speakers and lecturers, drawn from within and outside the region, included: Mr. Sven Biermann, Mr. Giovanni Falcetta, Mr. Tan Sri Abu Kassim, Ms. Datuk Wan Suruya and Mr. Martin Zapata.
The conference provided the alumni with the opportunity and platform to exchange experiences and practical skills on how to establish and sustain successful anti-corruption collective actions as well as to develop a strong network within the region.
In the near future, a publication will be released detailing the achievements of IACA alumni in the region as well as their collective action stories and initiatives.
Regional Alumni Conference- Asia 2022 is modelled after the global annual Alumni Reunions held at IACA Campus in Laxenburg, Austria. Thanks to the generous financial contribution of the Siemens Integrity Initiative, IACA will organize two more Regional Alumni Conferences in 2023 focusing on Latin America and Africa.
