Thanks to the Siemens Integrity Initiative generous contribution, IACA’s International Anti-Corruption Regional Summer Academy – Africa officially opened on Friday, 10 November, in Nairobi, Kenya. After a successful implementation in São Paulo, Brazil in March, 2023 and 7 years after the last RSA in Africa, the organization’s regional flagship training is back, bringing together and empowering professionals from the region.
The current edition is presently welcoming 48 participants from 15 countries bringing together 27 male and 21 female participants. This diverse group consists of professionals from the public sector, including anti-corruption agencies, judiciary, and law enforcement authorities, as well as the private sector, civil society, international organization, and academia.
Under the theme of “Practice meets Science”, participants will develop and deepen their existing anti-corruption knowledge, while gaining new insights to address and prevent corruption through lectures and discussion with their peers.
Fourteen expert lecturers from around the globe and region will address contemporary anti-corruption topics, such as emerging issues of corruption in the region, Tackling Corruption in Urban Development, Challenges of Enforcement in Wildlife Crime, enhancing Transparency and Combating Corruption in the Extractive Industry, among others.
The training opens with teambuilding exercises, and in addition to intensive in-class sessions, other highlights include an opening Gala Dinner, a social event, and a farewell dinner.
During the week, Regional Summer Academy participants will have excellent networking opportunities and eventually join IACA’s alumni network of over 5,000 anti-corruption and compliance professionals from around 170 countries and jurisdictions.
