2024 MACS and IMACC Academic Programmes Launched

The twelfth intake of the International Anti-Corruption Academy’s (IACA)’s Master in Anti-Corruption Studies (MACS) and the seventh cohort of the International Master in Anti-Corruption Compliance and Collective Action (IMACC) officially started in September with a welcome session hosted by the Academic Programmes Department on 3 October 2024.

It is with great pleasure that IACA welcomes the participation of students from diverse geographical regions at the beginning of their academic journey, which will last two years. The students are beginning their first module with an introduction to anti-corruption and will be focusing on topics such as the definitions, themes, trends, consequences, and measurements of corruption, an introduction to academic writing, organizational wrongdoing, ethical leadership and ethics management, politics of corruption, transparency, open government and multistakeholder participation, and anti-corruption initiatives and sport. The MACS and IMACC students will have joint courses at various stages throughout the programmes, which allows them to engage in networking opportunities and experience sharing with their peers.

Mr. Pawan Kumar Sinha, the Director of Academic Programmes at IACA, stated, "We are delighted to welcome a total of 33 participants in our two master’s programmes. They will become our future agents of change and anti-corruption experts across the globe. You come from the following countries - Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Egypt, Finland, Gambia, Jamaica, Liberia, Malaysia, Malawi, Mexico, Nigeria, Panama, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Uganda. You will take interdisciplinary courses that will bring together theory and practice related to the topic of preventing and countering corruption, as well as taking a deep dive into compliance concepts related to corruption."

The students are now in the pre-study phase of their first module and will undertake live sessions from 21 October until 15 November 2024. Then, they will work on building their assignments until 16 December 2024.

The MACS & IMACC Master’s Programmes are modular, postgraduate academic degree programmes that are delivered over two years and provide 120 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits, which enable graduates to enroll in PhD Programmes. Both programmes offer a series of interdisciplinary courses that concentrate on concepts and applied perspectives for preventing and countering corruption and establishing solid components of compliance. Students also develop a Master's Thesis and conduct research in the field, which is supported by IACA’s academic faculty and experts.
