From 2 to 5 December 2024, IACA hosted an intensive four-day in-person training session for the representatives of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials of the Republic of Korea.
The training provided a unique platform for investigators and prosecutors to exchange knowledge and expertise with lecturers and counterparts in Vienna. Participants gained valuable insights from lectures delivered by IACA lecturers, Yoojin Choi and Eduard Ivanov, as well as IACA frequent lecturers, Simona Bosiger and Steven David Brown.
The programme integrated anti-corruption and compliance theory with practical examples from various countries. It addressed a comprehensive array of topics, including corruption risk assessment, cybercrime and electronic evidence, and anti-money laundering. This interdisciplinary curriculum encouraged participants to explore anti-corruption and compliance from global perspectives. Furthermore, a study visit to the Vienna International Center (VIC) and a lecture at the UNODC provided deeper insights into international anti-corruption convention monitoring mechanism, with a particular emphasis on the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). A visit to the Austrian Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Economic Crimes and Corruption (WKStA) expanded their knowledge on whistleblower reporting system and the functions of the WKStA.
Participants will now gain access to IACA’s extensive alumni network, which includes over 6,000 anti-corruption and compliance professionals from 170 countries and jurisdictions, facilitating continued professional development and networking opportunities.
