Fifth Training for the Agency for Prevention of Corruption of the Republic of Serbia

The International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) has concluded the activities in Serbia for the year 2024 with the fifth training in Belgrade for the officials of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption of the Republic of Serbia on 17 and 18 December 2024.

This impactful two-day event organized in partnership with the Agency for Prevention of Corruption brought together 17 participants who deepened their knowledge on the actors of the anti-corruption efforts. The sessions, led by Mr. Drago Kos, IACA Frequent Lecturer and a globally known integrity and anti-corruption expert, focused on the role of governments, private sector, civil society, and citizens in the fight against corruption.

Through dynamic discussions and practical insights, participants explored how collective efforts promote equity and fairness, laying the groundwork for systemic change. The importance of integrity, capacity-building, and free access to public information was particularly highlighted in preventing corruption. Additionally, compliance programs and effective whistle-blowing systems were emphasized as essential for fostering accountability.

The training comes as an extension of the fruitful cooperation between IACA and the Agency and is a part of the EUROLIS project aimed at supporting Serbian institutions on the road to EU Accession, particularly related to Chapters 23 and 24 of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between the EU and Serbia. The project is funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the operational unit of the Austrian Development Cooperation.

This training, together with the two more to come in 2025, shall contribute to strengthening anti-corruption law enforcement in Serbia by equipping officials with knowledge and actionable strategies.
