From 24 to 28 February 2025, the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) delivered a five-day, face-to-face tailor-made training programme on Anti-Corruption and Good Governance for senior officials from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), and BEML Ltd. in Laxenburg, Austria. The programme brought together eight dedicated representatives from these leading public organizations, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to strengthen integrity and combat corruption in their respective institutions.
In her opening remarks, Professor Slagjana Taseva, Dean and Executive Secretary of IACA, welcomed participants to this programme emphasizing that this was an opportunity for them to engage with leading experts and deepen their understanding of critical issues shaping integrity and governance worldwide.
Throughout the week, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics, including international anti-corruption conventions, bribery prevention, and ethical decision-making in public institutions. Sessions on conflict-of-interest management, fraud in procurement, and corruption risk analysis provided practical tools for mitigating integrity risks. The training also addressed emerging challenges such as anti-money laundering and the use of electronic evidence in corruption cases.
The programme was led by IACA’s frequent lecturers, renowned anti-corruption experts, including Caroline Nicholas, Drago Kos, Katalin Pallai, Martin Kreutner, Simona Bosiger, Steven David Brown, as well as IACA’s own internal experts, Eduard Ivanov and Pawan Kumar Sinha.
Beyond classroom sessions, participants took part in a study visit to the Economic and Corruption Public Prosecutor’s Office (WKStA) of the Republic of Austria and to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Vienna International Centre (VIC). These visits offered valuable insights into international cooperation and enforcement mechanisms in the fight against corruption.
