Between 17 and 25 March 2025, a delegation from the International Anti-Corruption Academy traveled to Mexico to provide field support for a student-led collective action initiative focused on strengthening ethical practices within the Mexican Customs administration.

This field visit marked a significant step in engaging government stakeholders, the private sector, and civil society in a collaborative process to advance ethics in customs operations. Ms. Claudia Avila Conelly, a participant of the Anti-Corruption Collective Action Certificate, played a leading role in organizing these activities.

The visit extended to Guadalajara, where the Jalisco State Anticorruption System hosted a series of events that showcased collective action as an effective mechanism for preventing corruption. These forums created meaningful opportunities for stakeholders to discuss collaborative approaches to corruption prevention.

IACA was represented by Petra Susac, Head of General Management, and Martin Zapata, Senior Academic Programmes Officer. Both delivered presentations and facilitated discussions emphasizing the role of collective action in fostering integrity and ensuring fair market conditions across sectors.

During the visit, the IACA team also met with key anti-corruption institutions in Mexico, including the Federal Administrative Justice Court, the Superior Audit Office of the Federation, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, various business associations, and civil society groups.

The programme concluded with an event with the IACA alumni network in Mexico, providing a  valuable platform for knowledge exchange and reinforcing connections within the IACA community.
