On 2 April, students of the Master in Anti-Corruption Studies (MACS) and the International Master in Anti-Corruption Compliance and Collective Action (IMACC) 2023 cohorts attended an expert talk as part of Module 7, held by the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption’s (ICAC) Forensic Accounting and Computer Forensic and R&D Departments.

The expert talk, hosted by Mr. Kobus Cheung, Mr. Billy Chow and Mr. Jason Tam, provided an interesting insight into crypto-related crimes. It highlighted essential components of a crypto related crimes ecosystems in supporting law enforcement and delved into forensic accounting techniques to identify illicit transactions and detect suspicious behaviors. The experts also detailed their methods to effectively trace transactions, presenting from a regulatory and legal perspective, to support the prosecution of such crimes. Real life examples were also presented, enriching the understanding and discussion.

This expert talk is a step in the established collaboration between the ICAC and IACA and further commitment to fighting corruption through collaboration, knowledge sharing and strategic partnerships with agencies worldwide.

Both the Master in Anti-Corruption Studies (MACS) and International Masters in Anti-Corruption Compliance and Collective Action (IMACC) 2023 classes are currently in their final live session phase, working towards completing their assignments and preparing their master theses, in advance of their defence and graduation later this year.
