On 8 May, IACA hosted a webinar on Artistry in Action: Fighting Corruption through Art.

The webinar, which was attended by nearly 100 participants, focused on how anti-corruption efforts can be pursued not only through traditional approaches such as law enforcement, but also through a holistic perspective that emphasizes preventative mechanisms, including the use of various art forms to raise awareness and engage with society.

The event began with the opening remarks of IACA’s Dean and Executive Secretary, Dr. Slagjana Taseva, and consisted of an expert panel including Mr. Matt Clark, Programs and Marketing Director at JM International, Ms. Cill Soul, singer, songwriter, activist and winner of the Fair Play anti-corruption music contest, and Ms. Veronika Haubner-Immervoll, Head of the Resources Unit of the Austrian Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption. The panel was moderated by Mr. Martin Zapata, Senior Academic Programmes Officer of IACA.

The webinar showcased the work and activism of Cill Soul, including her latest musical work, "Echi",  

Matt Clark’s activism and experience in directing various initiatives such as Fair Play; and a presentation by Veronika Haubner-Immervoll on  the “Values and Role Models” photography competition, which was held by the Austrian Anti-Corruption Federal Bureau.

The discussion also highlighted the challenges  faced by artists addressing the issue of corruption and offered advice from their lived experiences on how to raise awareness and inspiration in using mediums such as music, film, literature and photography to spread the message of fighting corruption.
