The 10th Regional Summer Academy of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) concluded on 14 July in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The comprehensive programme addressed emerging corruption challenges in the region, with sessions on topics such as corruption in today’s global environment, art and money laundering, AI and anti-corruption, whistleblower protection, and ethical leadership.
A total of 48 anti-corruption and compliance professionals from 11 nations from the Asian continent successfully completed the intensive 4-day training, organized thanks to the generous financial contribution of the Malaysian Government. The programme featured lectures by distinguished practitioners and academics, an interactive team-building session, peer engagement, and discussions with renowned international and regional experts, and ended with a festive closing ceremony on 14 July.
Following the event, a participant from Bangladesh, Tanim Laila, Associate Director of EDOTCO Bangladesh Co. Ltd., said: “Heartfelt thanks to IACA - for not just offering a platform, but for building a movement. The knowledge, the dialogue, the global perspectives - this Academy has left its mark on us.
Another participant from China, Kin Yip, Managing Director of Dynamic Research International, added “We have gained many new tools in the past several days, but also made new friends who could support you. Remember, you are not alone in your fight against corruption. Tap into the Alumni network”.
Participants came from diverse sectors, including the public and private sectors, civil society, and academia while the 10 lecturers were from the Asian Development Bank, the Austrian Central Office for Prosecuting Economic Crimes and Corruption, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the National Center for Governance, Integrity, and Anti-Corruption, the Singapore University of Social Sciences, Vienna University of Economics and Business. and IACA itself.
With the conclusion of the Regional Summer Academy - Asia, participants join IACA’s global Alumni Association. This network includes graduates from previous Regional Summer Academies held in in Argentina (Latin America, 2015), Uganda (Eastern Africa, 2016), Kuwait (Middle East, 2017), China (East and Southeast Asia, 2018), the Republic of Korea (South and East Asia, 2019), and Brazil (Central and South America, 2019), Malaysia (Asia, 2022), Brazil (Central and South America, 2023) and Nairobi (Africa, 2023).
