From 9 to 11 July, Professor Slagjana Taseva, Dean and Executive Secretary of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA), participated in the Regional Summer Academy in Malaysia. She used this opportunity to engage with some of IACA’s key partners in the region.
In Kuala Lumpur, Dean Taseva met with Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Azam Baki, Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and a member of IACA’s Board of Governors; Mr. Mohd Hafaz bin Nazar, Director of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA); and senior leadership from the Asia School of Business (ASB), including Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Founding Chair and former Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, and Prof. Melati Nungsari, Deputy Dean of Research. The discussions focused on institutional collaboration, training initiatives, and strengthening anti-corruption frameworks.
During her stay in Kuala Lumpur, the Dean was supported by Tan Sri Dato' Abu Kassim, Malaysian member of IACA’s International Senior Advisory Board (ISAB), former Chief of MACC, and former member of IACA’s Board of Governors, who participated in most of these meetings, supporting efforts to foster partnerships between IACA and Malaysian counterparts.
The Dean also delivered a keynote address at the Conference on Building Leadership Capacity for Anti-Corruption Champions, which convened private sector representatives to exchange views on public procurement integrity and effective anti-corruption practices.
On 10 July, the second meeting of the Extended Bureau of the 13th Session of the Assembly of Parties was held in hybrid format in Kuala Lumpur. In addition to the Bureau members, some representatives from their respective permanent missions in Kuala Lumpur attended the meeting.
On 11 July, the Dean visited Singapore for a meeting with Mr. Tee Chong Fui Sam, Director of the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB). The discussion centered on potential cooperation in research and training, regional capacity-building needs, and IACA’s global engagement in anti-corruption efforts.
