On the International Anti-Corruption Day, we thank all our partners across sectors who are cooperating with us in strengthening integrity and accountability globally.
This year, the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) welcomed the State of Libya as its 82nd Party, bringing the Academy’s membership to 78 States and 4 international organizations.
Throughout the year, the Academy delivered several important capacity-building initiatives, including the International Anti-Corruption Summer Academy in Laxenburg and its two regional editions in Malaysia and Qatar. These programmes offered focused training and supported the development of strong regional networks of anti-corruption professionals.
At the same time, the Academy proudly marks its 11th graduation ceremony with 42 international students of its three master’s programmes. Thanks to ongoing donor support, IACA provided scholarships to participants from Least-Developed Countries (LDCs), and Emerging Economies. This support helped ensure a wide range of access to the organization's programmes.
In line with its research priorities, IACA published a research report on Integrity and Anti-Corruption Compliance in Sports Organizations and several research papers in the IACA Research Paper Series.
With an aim to connect the international community, advance collaboration, and promote knowledge exchange, in November, the Academy hosted the Annual Conference on Global Trends and Challenges in Preventing and Combating Corruption, gathering more than 200 participants and 34 experts from international organizations, government institutions, the private sector, sports bodies, and civil society.
Moreover, in early December, IACA co-convened the second Global Conference on Harnessing Data to Improve Corruption Measurement with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Organization for Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the World Bank, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), with the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha). The event highlighted the value of reliable and comparable data and introduced several new initiatives, including the first version of the Global Corruption Measurement Data Dashboard.
The Academy closely cooperates with UNODC to support the implementation of UNCAC and provide technical assistance to State Parties, strengthening global efforts to prevent and combat corruption. In this framework, IACA will take active part in the eleventh session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP 11), and, in particular, will organize a side event titled Measuring the Effectiveness of the Anti-Corruption Agencies.
Through these initiatives, the Academy provides both knowledge and tools to international anti-corruption community to achieve tangible and measurable results. It also continues to strengthen the international networks and collaborative partnerships that underpin its work.
Today, the Academy reaffirms its commitment to promoting integrity worldwide and extends its congratulations to all academics, practitioners, law-enforcement officers, and professionals who continue to uphold transparency, strengthen accountability, and contribute to more resilient and just societies.
