On 27 August 2026, on the margins of the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network) in Vienna, IACA Dean and Executive Secretary, Mr. Drago Kos, met with Mr. Amer Al-Ali, Head of Syria’s Central Authority for Control and Inspection (CASI), to discuss the next steps in collaboration between the Academy and CASI.

The sides discussed practical steps to advance this partnership, reflecting IACA’s continued engagement with Syrian institutions in support of effective anti-corruption efforts.

The meeting followed IACA’s scoping mission to Damascus in June 2026, which was conducted to assess Syria’s anti-corruption landscape, identify institutional needs, and explore areas for targeted support. Both sides focused, in particular, on the findings of the scoping mission and potential avenues for structured IACA engagement, such as capacity-building, professional training, and institutional strengthening.
