The Dean

IACA’s Dean and Executive Secretary to the AoP, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Academy and its substantive programme. The Dean is supported by the IACA team, and reports to and is accountable to the Board of Governors. During 2022, the Dean worked with the support of IACA staff to, inter alia, further implement the Work Programme of 2021 – 2024; represent IACA externally through participating in the 31st session of the UN CCPCJ, the 91st plenary meeting of GRECO, the first BRICS Anti-Corruption Ministerial Meeting, and the 11th session of UNTOC COP; serve its global constituency; establish cooperative relationships with a wide variety of partners and seek appropriate funding for IACA.

Staff in 2022 came from 23 countries


The adopted Budget earmarked thirty-five (35) positions for the year 2022, including the Dean and staff positions funded by extra-budgetary activities. Throughout the year, IACA continued to enhance its existing structure, including its expert in-house capacities. In this regard, it recruited new personnel and had one staff member under secondment appointment. The number of staff increased from twenty-three (23) in January to twenty-seven (27) (including one secondee) in December.

All staff members passed an international screening and recruitment process and were hired under international contracts. Employees in 2022, including those under secondment appointment, came from 23 countries around the world: Afghanistan, Albania, Austria, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, United Kingdom, Colombia, Croatia, Germany, India, Ireland, Peru, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Republic of Korea, United States of America, and Zimbabwe.

The organization also reaffirmed its strong commitment to gender equality and female empowerment, including in its staffing. As part of the International Gender Champions Initiative, IACA is committed to ensuring gender balance (in a spectrum of 45-55%) in the selection and recruitment of its staff. Of note is the high share of female employees at 61% or twenty (20) staff, as compared to 39% share of male employees, or thirteen (13) staff members in 2022.

Interns from all regions once again supported IACA’s work by assisting the Dean, Academic Programmes, External Relations and Strategic Partnerships, Legal, Research, Training and Capacity Development, and General Management departments.

The IACA Internship Programme offered experience to twenty (20) individuals in 2022, with each of them working for a period of three to six-months. They came from Argentina, China, Egypt, Germany, India, Iran, Luxembourg, Romania, Russian Federation, Türkiye, United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
