IACA gender balance in staffing 2019

Staff in 2019 came from 18 countries

The adopted Budget earmarked 30 positions for the year 2019. However, due to the financial crisis, the number of staff decreased from 24 in January to 15 staff in July, closing the year on that level.

All staff members passed an international screening and recruitment process and were hired under international contracts. Employees in 2019, including those under secondment contracts, came from 18 countries around the world: Afghanistan, Austria, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Dominican Republic, India, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Republic of Korea, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovenia, and Zimbabwe.

The organization also reaffirmed its strong commitment to gender equality and female empowerment, including in its staffing. As part of the International Gender Champions Initiative, IACA is committed to ensuring gender balance (in a spectrum of 45-55%) in the selection and recruitment of its staff. For 2019 IACA maintained gender balance throughout the year, with 54% female staff and 46% male. More information about IACA’s commitments under this initiative is available in the Dialogue and Networking section of this report.

Interns from all regions once again supported IACA’s work by assisting the Academic Programmes, Advocacy and Communications, External Relations, Legal, Programmes and Activities, and Research and Science departments.

The IACA internship programme offered engagement to 16 individuals in 2019, with each of them serving for three- or six-month periods. They came from Albania, AustriaBrazil, Colombia, Germany, Greece, India, Islamic Republic of Iran, Italy, Switzerland, Uganda, and United States of America.

IACA’s in-house experts lectured throughout the year in the organization’s numerous programmes and trainings, at universities and institutions around the world, and at international and regional conferences on anti-corruption and compliance.
